FEATURING BLACK GIRLS AND WOMEN
If you haven't heard, 11 year old Marley Dias had a problem with the books assigned to her at school. None of them included black girls. Destined to find more books, she came up with the idea for 1,000 black girl books.
Through the Grass Roots Foundation, they were able to raise enough money and find enough books to donate to Marley's mother's old school in Jamaica. In addition, they made a library of books in New Jersey.
Celebrating the collection of books, a resource guide has been made. It makes finding books featuring black girls or women easier by allowing people to search by age. What differentiates this list from others is that indie authors have also been included!
